Ray tracing — Other artists

Here several images created by others. Many of them are really genial experts in ray-tracing. I have modified most of the original source files to my own taste. The ball point pen picture is quite simple, but most of the other ones are very complex and required lots of adjusting.

I found an early unfinished version of this Mississippi paddle wheel steamer created by Sven Littkowski. So I completed it, adding and modifying several of the components. I discovered on the POV news blog that Sven did a lot of other fine developments, which must have taken weeks of work!

I kept the most complicated original features: the hull, the propulsion mechanism with its three paddle wheels, the cotton and hay bales on the starboard side, and remodeled most of the rest, adding the three passenger decks with their railings, the stairs, the blue benches on the top deck, the chimney and its smoke, the flag, the sun decoration on the sides, the hoist on the prow, five mooring bitts, the wooden floor and storage room texture, the bales in the storage room (one left outside), the cloudy sky, the optional fog, and the river bank.

The French castle by Sylvain GIrard is spectacular. I spent thre days adjusting the files, modifying the background and the trees and finding the right angle for each view. I tried to contact Sylvain to congratulate him, but the e-mail he supplied in the file doesn‘t work anymore, after 15 years...
